Historic Sheffield

This beautiful home has lived many lives - as an inn, as a dentist’s office, as a derelict and forgotten place.  The clients revived much of the structure, but the functional zones of the kitchen, mudroom, laundry, and pantry remained ill-suited to their lifestyle.  They asked for a 100-year kitchen.  I worked directly with the architect to redefine the program, select materials and finishes, design cabinetry and organization.  The project employed local craftspeople to preserve the original pantry in a new footprint. I served as the lead designer and project manager through construction execution.

This project was published in the Boston Globe and the Spring 2022 issue of New England Living

The raw and unfiltered story of this project is that we discovered, when the floors were leveled for new stone tile, that an elm tree had grown through the foundation .

Their dog’s name is Theodore and he weighs 225 pounds.
